Our Mission
5TH CHAMBER EMPHASIZES THE ESSENCE OF HIP HOP AND THE DIVERSITY OF ITS FORMS OF EXCHANGE. OUR MISSION CAN BE SPLIT INTO THE FOLLOWING THREE GOALS:
European influence
Four guests from all over Europe are invited to not only teach a workshop but to participate in the main event as Battle Guest and/or Judge. There will be enough flexibility to rotate through the positions, since there will be two German judges in addition and three categories in total.
The invited guests are carefully selected, for their quality in grooves, flow, foundations and style. Together they represent a certain movement language which will reflect the values of the festival.
Diverse
music selection
The music selection plays a huge role in the dance style, we want to build another space for this specific style, which is also reflected by the invited artists. Boom Bap, (Old School) rap and generally slower music (90bpm) are still lacking in a lot of German events (not all events!), so we are determined put a statement with our music selection but create another home for the dancers that live from that sound (next to the other events that inspire us positively). Still, we also value evolution, which means that the whole day will be used to explore different “colours” of Hip Hop music. Ultimately, it’s about unity.
Valuing the different forms of exchange
We dedicated a whole day only for one style, to decompress the experience and give enough space to the different aspects of hip hop dance. There will be jams, battles, cyphers and an own developed partnering-concept, which puts hip hop as social dance in the spotlight in form of a tournament.
